Perry Weather builds weather safety technology trusted by thousands of organizations including school districts, cities, universities, golf courses, professional sports teams, construction, and manufacturing companies. The platform combines software and connected hardware to enable rapid decision-making when weather disrupts operations.
As a Platform Engineer, you'll partner with the Lead Platform Engineer to design and deliver infrastructure that the entire engineering team depends on. You'll own significant surface area from day one, including infrastructure as code (Terraform), Kubernetes environments, CI/CD delivery pipelines, observability systems, and security guardrails.
Key responsibilities include: writing and maintaining Terraform code that defines the cloud footprint; running Kubernetes clusters and Helm-deployed services with resource tuning and scaling; building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions; improving instrumentation, dashboards, and alerting; tracking cloud spend and identifying waste; implementing secrets management and least-privilege access controls; supporting AI coding agents with scoped credentials and audit trails; and participating in on-call rotations for incident response.
You should have 4+ years of production infrastructure experience in platform, DevOps, or backend engineering. Required skills include hands-on Terraform and Kubernetes in production, CI/CD pipeline development (ideally GitHub Actions), depth in a major cloud platform (primary focus on Azure, with AWS/GCP experience transferable), scripting in Python, Go, or Bash, and observability work you've implemented yourself. You need on-call experience with at least one incident you've resolved and documented, product instincts about internal tooling, and fluency with AI-native engineering tools and agentic workflows.
Additional valuable experience includes policy-as-code, cloud cost management/FinOps, API gateway operations, DNS/CDN configuration, Helm chart authoring, managed databases, load testing, and exposure to connected hardware fleets.
The team is located in the vibrant Dallas Oak Lawn neighborhood and works in-office Monday through Friday in a casual, collaborative environment. You'll work alongside experienced engineers who take ownership and move fast.
