Catawiki is a curated marketplace for special objects, auctioning over 100,000 unique items weekly across 80+ categories. The Platform Horizontal function supports engineering teams by reducing infrastructure complexity and providing reliable, secure, and scalable foundations for development and deployment.
As a Platform Engineer, you will work at the intersection of development, infrastructure, and operations to shape and execute the long-term platform vision. You'll empower Catawiki teams to deliver value to customers with speed, reliability, and security.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building a self-service developer platform with emphasis on developer experience, designing and maintaining platforms that abstract complexity and enable teams to deploy, monitor, and optimize applications
- Orchestrating cloud-native infrastructure, managing Kubernetes clusters and cloud resources with focus on performance, scalability, and cost efficiency through FinOps practices
- Boosting developer productivity by building and enhancing CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and reusable templates that accelerate development and deployment cycles
- Driving reliability and scalability through fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and scaling practices so applications run smoothly under changing conditions
- Improving platform operations and enhancing the observability stack to monitor platform health and resolve incidents proactively
- Collaborating with product teams to understand their needs, build simple and impactful solutions, and champion cloud-native best practices across the organization
You'll be part of an 800+ person organization with offices in Amsterdam and Lisbon. The role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in the Amsterdam HQ. Catawiki offers visa sponsorship and relocation support for selected candidates.

REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 5 years of production experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
- Experience automating workflows and CI/CD pipelines with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
- Hands-on experience using and maintaining observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry
- Strong ownership mindset: proactively address platform issues and work toward long-term scalability and resilience
- Collaborative approach: work effectively with developers and cross-functional teams to align goals and deliver impactful yet simple solutions
- Commitment to continuous learning in a fast-moving cloud-native ecosystem
