Catawiki is a curated marketplace for special objects, auctioning over 100,000 unique items weekly across 80+ categories. The company has sold over 25 million objects and operates with 800+ employees across offices in Amsterdam and Lisbon.
As a Platform Engineer, you will work at the intersection of development, infrastructure, and operations to shape and execute the long-term platform vision. The Platform Horizontal function supports reliability, developer experience, security, and quality across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
• Build and maintain a self-service developer platform that abstracts infrastructure complexity, enabling teams to deploy, monitor, and optimize applications with ease.
• Orchestrate cloud-native infrastructure by managing Kubernetes clusters and cloud resources, focusing on performance, scalability, and cost efficiency through FinOps practices.
• Boost developer productivity by designing and enhancing CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and reusable templates that accelerate development and deployment cycles.
• Drive reliability and scalability through fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and auto-scaling practices to ensure applications run smoothly under varying conditions.
• Improve platform operations and enhance the observability stack to monitor platform health and resolve incidents proactively.
• Collaborate with product teams to understand their needs, build simple and impactful solutions, and champion cloud-native best practices across the organization.
You will work in a hybrid setup, based in the Lisbon Hub with a minimum of 2 days per week in office. The role is open to candidates worldwide, with visa sponsorship and relocation support available for eligible candidates.
REQUIREMENTS:
• At least 5 years of production experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Experience automating workflows and CI/CD pipelines using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Hands-on experience with observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
• Strong ownership mindset with proactive approach to addressing platform issues and driving long-term scalability and resilience.
• Ability to work effectively with developers and cross-functional teams to align goals and deliver impactful solutions.
• Commitment to continuous learning in the fast-moving cloud-native ecosystem.
