Standard Bots is building next-generation industrial robots and has closed a Series C. They're scaling rapidly and need a Plant Controller to serve as the senior finance partner embedded at their Glen Cove, NY manufacturing facility. You'll own the plant's complete financial reporting cycle, including monthly close, variance analysis, and management reporting on plant performance. You'll be the primary finance contact during external audits (RSM), maintaining internal controls and flagging risks to corporate Finance. A key part of the role is translating plant-level financial detail into clear business-level insights for senior leadership. Budgeting and forecasting are central responsibilities. You'll lead facility budgeting in partnership with the Plant Manager, covering labor, materials, overhead, and capital planning. You'll evaluate capital expenditure requests and provide financial analysis to support operational decisions around equipment, staffing, and production changes. Cost accounting and inventory management fall under your purview. You'll oversee standard costs, bill-of-materials accuracy, landed cost methodology, and labor allocation (direct vs. indirect). You'll analyze manufacturing variances and partner with Operations to identify root causes and corrective actions. Inventory valuation, cycle counts, and obsolescence reserves are your responsibility, ensuring GAAP compliance and audit readiness. You'll work cross-functionally with Procurement on vendor cost analysis, tariff impacts, and supply chain trends. You'll provide financial training to plant operations staff and build a trusted partnership with the Plant Manager and Operations team—positioning yourself as their finance partner, not a corporate auditor. The role reports formally to the Senior Finance Manager with a dotted-line relationship to the Plant Manager. This structure preserves independent financial oversight while enabling close day-to-day collaboration. You'll need a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA preferred), 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience with at least 2 years in manufacturing or plant finance. Strong GAAP and cost accounting knowledge, experience with ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite a plus), and advanced Excel skills are essential. You must communicate clearly to both Plant Managers and CFOs, and be comfortable working independently on-site while maintaining alignment with corporate Finance.
