You will be a Senior People Partner embedded within the Content team (Editorial, Legals, Credit, Distressed), reporting to the Chief Content Officer. This is a strategic and tactical role combining deep partnership with senior leadership and hands-on people operations.
STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as trusted advisor and thought partner to Content leadership on all people-related matters, earning trust through consistent presence and willingness to have difficult conversations.
- Act as right-hand person to the CCO, understanding content strategy and serving as proxy with leaders.
- Embed fully in team rituals, meetings, and Slack channels to maintain real-time visibility on team dynamics and issues.
- Catch people risks early by connecting dots across 1:1s, skip-level conversations, engagement data, and direct observation.
- Lead org design initiatives as Content scales across regions and coverage areas.
- Manage talent development, succession planning, and key talent identification and stretching.
- Design and deliver learning & development programs addressing editorial craft, analytical rigor, management skills, and leadership development.
- Inform compensation strategy using data, ensuring fair salary bands with D&I considerations.
- Support performance management and help leaders maintain high standards.
- Take on cross-functional People projects that improve the broader function.
TACTICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage employee relations within UK employment law framework: Performance Improvement Plans, grievances, probation management, maternity/paternity cases, flexible working requests, conflict resolution, and mediation.
- Embed people products and systems across the team, deliver training, champion adoption, and provide product feedback.
- Pull and analyze people data to inform leader decision-making, adding business context to metrics.
- Provide 1:1 wellbeing support to employees and coach managers through sensitive conversations.
- Serve as cultural ambassador, reinforcing company values and behaviors as the London office grows.

You should be genuinely curious about content production, editorial standards, and what makes great journalism. REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in fast-paced environments (tech, fintech, or start-ups)
- Significant experience partnering with content, editorial, research, or analyst teams
- Strong grasp of UK employment law and awareness of New York employment law
- Knowledge of HRIS and ATS software (HiBob, Lattice, Ashby)
- Excellent organizational skills managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong influencing and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to confidently challenge senior leaders and push back when needed
- Data-driven mindset with ability to use metrics to inform decisions
- Bias to action and autonomous working style
- People-first mindset with strong relationship-building skills
- Flexible and thriving in dynamic, fast-moving environments
