Alan is a prevention-focused health insurance and care platform serving 1M+ members across 40K+ companies, with €800M+ ARR. The company is expanding through M&A and international growth, and is building a global team of 1000+ people.
You will join the 13-person People team as the owner of the M&A and International Expansion workstream. This is a high-impact generalist role that combines core People team responsibilities (50% of time: on-call support, individual situation management, HRBP duties) with specialized expertise in M&A and expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the People workstream for M&A transactions from due diligence through integration, collaborating with Corporate, Legal, Finance, and business leaders
- Conduct HR due diligence: review headcount, employment contracts, collective agreements, compensation, benefits, and liabilities; flag risks to deal teams
- Manage employment contract transfers across France and internationally, selecting the appropriate path for each deal and jurisdiction
- Lead acquired team integration: design day-1 and first-month plans, harmonize contracts and benefits, communicate with acquired employees, onboard them into Alan's culture
- Support people transitions for acquired teams, working with crew and leads on team structure, talent retention, and individual care
- Manage relationships with external advisors (law firms, HR advisory, relocation, EoR providers): write clear briefs and challenge advice
- Open new countries on the People side: evaluate entity vs. employer of record models, ensure compliant local contracts, benefits, and payroll partnerships
- Handle international relocations and cross-border situations (visas, social security, tax, contract types)
- Build reusable playbooks (HR due diligence checklist, integration playbook, country-opening checklist) to accelerate future deals
- Manage global and cross-border individual situations (mobility, work-from-anywhere, sensitive cases)
- Share employment law and M&A expertise across the People team
- Leverage AI and automation to multiply impact
First 2.5 months: become autonomous on day-to-day requests, map current M&A and country-opening practices, contribute to at least one live deal or country opening, contribute to reusable playbooks, shadow individual situation management.
First 5 months: own the People workstream of a deal end-to-end, run or co-run talent density assessments and parting-ways cases, handle cross-border situations independently, ensure playbooks are used by crew and Legal/Finance, become the go-to expert.
Requirements:
- ~5 years of experience focused on HR M&A and integration (e.g., HR advisory firm or HR team specializing in these topics)
- Experience with acquisitions in the Tech industry (not just large corporate groups; understand that methods differ by company size)
- Mastery of HR due diligence and employment contract transfers
- Post-merger integration experience, including talent density and parting ways (not just pre-signing)
- International exposure: worked on deals or entities outside France
- Fluent in English, written and spoken (all internal processes and communications are in English)
- Adaptable and creative: adjust methods to each company and deal type rather than applying one standard process
- Highly organized: manage multiple confidential workstreams in parallel without dropping tasks
- Strong communicator with diverse audiences (founders, acquired employees, leads, lawyers) in writing and orally
- Strong technical skills and ability to teach others
- Judgment and discretion with confidential information and sensitive human situations
Nice-to-have:
- Legal background, ideally in employment law
- Experience in or with Tech scale-ups that made multiple acquisitions
- Experience opening entities or setting up employers of record in new countries
- Fluency in languages relevant to expansion (Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic)
- AI enthusiasm and active use of tools to multiply impact
