Salary: USD 270,630 - 304,420 / annual
Roblox is hiring a Senior People Business Partner to serve as the senior people strategist for the User group, which builds the core Roblox platform—the app users open on phones, consoles, and desktops, along with social features, communities, and live events. You'll sit on the group leadership team as a trusted advisor to the VP-level engineering leader and their staff, owning a multi-year people strategy that enables the group to ship an ambitious roadmap while developing strong leaders and builders.
The User group is large and engineering-heavy, spanning Social (Communication, Community, Connection, Sharing), Consumer Apps, and Live teams with highly interdependent work across engineering, product, design, and data science functions. You'll partner with a People Business Associate who handles frontline manager and employee questions, freeing your time for org design, leadership bench development, and group health.
Key responsibilities include:
- Co-creating User's multi-year people strategy by translating product strategy into annual people plans and talent roadmaps covering capability gaps, succession planning, future skills, and investment priorities
- Diagnosing and improving organizational systems by analyzing operating models, org design, spans/layers, and talent systems to identify friction and misalignment with business strategy, then building cases for structural change
- Orchestrating large-scale changes including reorgs, team integrations, and new operating rhythms while keeping teams focused on shipping
- Building leadership bench strength through long-term capability and succession planning, ensuring development plans are actionable and used
- Bringing data-driven insights to leadership by combining internal people data (engagement, attrition, performance, progression) with external research to inform strategic decisions
- Leveraging AI tools to accelerate analysis, synthesis, and program design; helping leaders think through how AI changes team design, skills, and management
- Shaping culture by using people data to identify systemic barriers to engagement and inclusion, designing interventions aligned with Roblox values, and holding senior leaders accountable
- Making User an attractive destination for top talent through hiring programs, capacity planning, and employer brand initiatives
You'll report to the Senior Director, People Business Partner Lead within the People & Systems function.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years in HR, people strategy, or organizational effectiveness, including significant time as a senior PBP/HRBP partnering with VP-level leaders in engineering-centric, product-driven technology organizations
- Track record of org design and change at scale (reorgs, operating model shifts, integrations affecting hundreds of people) with measurable outcomes
- Built and owned multi-year talent strategies including succession and bench planning, workforce planning (build/buy/borrow), and leadership development that moved readiness metrics
- Strong analytical judgment; comfortable working directly with people data, partnering with People Analytics, and translating complex findings into clear narratives for senior leaders
- Hands-on use of AI tools in your own work and curiosity about how AI changes team design and the manager role
- Executive presence and courage to influence senior technical leaders through credibility and evidence, delivering difficult messages constructively
- Discretion with highly confidential information and comfort operating in ambiguity at the pace of a founder-led company
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience supporting consumer, social, or communications products at scale, or mobile/cross-platform app organizations
- Background in I-O psychology, organization development, or equivalent evidence-based approaches to how people work
- Experience in PBP/associate or HRBP/HR generalist partnership models where you've mentored and partnered closely with partner functions
