Tensec is a vertical AI platform for cross-border trade, serving freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and 4PLs across the US, Mexico, and Brazil. The company is building agentic AI to automate money and goods flows in a $50 trillion market, with backing from Quiet Capital, Coinbase Ventures, and other top-tier investors.
As People Operations Partner, you will own the operational infrastructure that enables Tensec to scale across three countries without proportionally scaling the People Ops team. This is a hands-on role building systems, policies, and automation that replace tribal knowledge and one-off fixes.
Key outcomes for your first 12–18 months:
- Design and implement a documented, consistent onboarding process across Brazil, Mexico, and the US that runs without your personal involvement in every step
- Create a centralized, searchable repository of all People Ops policies, procedures, and workflows (onboarding, offboarding, leave, benefits) standardized across all three markets
- Identify and eliminate manual work through automation, reducing touches per employee action
- Own full HRIS configuration end-to-end: workflows, approval chains, custom fields, integrations, and market-specific processes
- Develop a strategic point of view on HR tech: evaluate tools against business needs (cost, fit, implementation lift) and make go/no-go decisions
Additional responsibilities:
- Proactively identify operational gaps and fix them before they escalate
- Serve as front-line owner of People Ops tickets and employee/manager questions across all three markets
- Partner with Legal and Operations to ensure policies comply with US employment law, Mexican labor law, and Brazilian CLT
- Manage annual open enrollment: communicate deadlines, process elections correctly, handle escalations without last-minute scramble
- Document and apply leave-of-absence processes consistently across US, Brazilian, and Mexican requirements
- Audit existing HR workflows for automation opportunities and build business cases to prioritize fixes
- Support compensation cycles, performance reviews, and org-chart changes with clean, accurate HRIS data
- Maintain reconciliation between recruiting, finance, and systems data on headcount and compensation
- Ensure compliance with requirements across all jurisdictions, on time
You will work as a builder and curious problem-solver who standardizes processes without flattening local context.
Requirements:
- 4+ years in People Operations or HR Operations, ideally at a fast-growing tech company that outgrew its initial processes
- Hands-on HRIS administration experience: you have configured workflows and fields yourself
- Proven track record of converting manual, inconsistent processes into documented, standardized ones that others actually follow
- Experience working across multiple countries or legal jurisdictions
- Bilingual: English + Spanish OR English + Portuguese
- Based in Palo Alto, CA, with 3 days per week in-office requirement
Nice to have:
- Technology company background
- Exposure to Brazilian or Mexican labor law and statutory benefits administration
