Blank Street is a food and beverage brand on a mission to become the defining brand of its generation through elevated products and attention to detail. The People Operations Partner is a trusted people partner to the field organization, supporting a high-volume, multi-unit food and beverage business across multiple markets.
You will partner closely with General Managers, Shift Leads, and Operations Managers to build strong teams, develop leaders, navigate employee relations, and create an exceptional employee experience across stores. Working at the intersection of People and Operations, you'll help leaders solve real-time challenges around performance, staffing, engagement, retention, and team health.
This is a highly field-facing role requiring significant time in stores, building relationships with frontline teams and leaders, and translating people insights into action. You'll be energized by the pace and complexity of hourly, customer-facing environments and prefer being close to operations rather than working solely from a corporate office.
Key responsibilities include:
**Hire:** Partner with Talent Acquisition and Operations leaders on hiring strategy, interview calibration, and workforce planning. Support strong hiring decisions by assessing talent quality and team fit. Ensure smooth onboarding from offer acceptance through ramp-up. Proactively identify hiring gaps and staffing risks.
**Develop:** Coach GMs, Shift Leads, and Operations Managers on performance management, accountability, and feedback. Drive execution of people programs including performance coaching frameworks and engagement action planning. Support internal promotions, succession planning, and leadership development. Help leaders navigate difficult conversations confidently and fairly.
**Retain:** Lead employee relations matters and investigations from intake through resolution with strong documentation and professionalism. Identify trends in turnover, attendance, engagement, and performance. Act as a trusted resource for employees and managers. Build strong relationships across markets to maintain awareness of team health and morale.
**Protect the Business:** Partner cross-functionally with Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Training, Finance, and Operations. Use people data and operational trends to identify risks and support business decision-making.
The role is based in-person out of the Brooklyn, NY office, reports to the HRBP Manager, and requires frequent travel across supported markets and stores.
**Requirements:**
- 4+ years of HR or People Ops experience, ideally in a fast-paced retail or hospitality environment
- Working knowledge of labor laws and compliance requirements (I-9s, wage & hour, documentation standards)
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
- Demonstrated ability to stay organized and detail-oriented across multiple workstreams
- Comfortable using HR systems and tools (HRIS, ATS, Google Suite)
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment
- Must be based in NYC with flexibility to travel throughout the market as needed
