Novig is building a CFTC-designated sports prediction market, recently backed by top-tier investors including Pantera, Forerunner, Lux, NFX, Paul Graham, and Joe Montana with over $100M in funding. The company is rapidly scaling and seeks a People Operations Manager to establish and maintain the operational foundation of the People function.
In this role, you will own core People Operations responsibilities including payroll administration, benefits management, HRIS optimization, and compliance. You'll manage payroll for 120+ employees across multiple states, handling employee changes, deductions, taxes, reimbursements, and audits. You'll partner closely with Finance on payroll reconciliation and reporting, and review employee tax withholdings and payroll tax calculations for accuracy.
Benefits administration is a key responsibility: you'll oversee enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations, COBRA, HSA, and 401(k) administration. You'll support benefits renewals, open enrollment, audits, and vendor implementations. You'll own the administration and optimization of Rippling and other People systems, building and maintaining automated workflows across onboarding, offboarding, payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee changes.
You'll maintain accurate employee data and personnel records, identify manual processes, and systematically automate or improve them. The role requires comfort with recurring operational work end-to-end, a systems-minded approach, and responsiveness to the fast-paced environment. The company culture emphasizes ownership, trust, speed, and minimal bureaucracy—decisions happen quickly and individuals are empowered to fix broken processes and ship improvements.
Note: Work is tied to live sports, which may involve nights, weekends, and high-pressure periods. The environment is best suited for those who thrive with autonomy and ambiguity rather than clear swim lanes and heavy process.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3–6 years of People or HR Operations experience, ideally in a highly regulated industry
- Hands-on multi-state payroll and benefits administration experience
- Strong HRIS and payroll expertise; Rippling experience strongly preferred
- Detail-oriented, systems-minded, responsive approach
- Comfort owning recurring operational work end-to-end
