Salient Motion designs and manufactures advanced motion control and actuation systems for aerospace, defense, and robotics applications. This is the company's first dedicated People Operations hire, joining at a moment of rapid scaling.
You will build and own the operational infrastructure that keeps the organization running across the full employee lifecycle. This role sits at the intersection of People Ops and recruiting operations, requiring constant context-switching and proactive problem-solving.
**People Operations Responsibilities:**
- HRIS administration in Rippling: manage employee records, workflows, onboarding automation, and data integrity
- End-to-end onboarding: pre-boarding, Day 1 coordination, and 30/60/90 day check-ins in partnership with managers
- Benefits administration: open enrollment, carrier coordination, employee questions, and day-to-day support
- Compliance: I-9 management, employment law adherence (California and federal), required policy maintenance, and ITAR documentation at offer stage
- Visa and immigration coordination with outside counsel: prepare job descriptions for petition support, coordinate recruiting to meet visa timelines, manage case tracking and document collection, and serve as internal point of contact between employees, managers, and counsel
- Payroll support: first point of contact for employee questions and discrepancies; ensure managers approve timesheets before processing deadlines
- Culture and engagement: own pulse surveys and engagement check-ins, synthesize results into actionable insights for leadership, and serve as visible, approachable presence on the floor
- Company policy ownership: employee handbook, PTO policy, code of conduct, and required state and federal postings
**Recruiting Operations Responsibilities:**
- Job posting management: publish and maintain open roles on careers page and LinkedIn, keep postings current, ensure ITAR and location language compliance
- Interview coordination: schedule 1:1 interviews across active requisitions and coordinate post-interview roundtable discussions
- Candidate experience: serve as primary point of contact and host for onsite candidates; manage greeting, logistics, interview escort, and day-of logistics
- Offer routing: manage offer workflow end-to-end in Greenhouse, including approval routing, offer letter generation, DocuSign management, and acceptance tracking
- Juicebox administration: support recruiting team in managing outreach agent briefs, monitoring sequence performance, and keeping candidate data clean
- Greenhouse hygiene: stage updates, candidate disposition, background check coordination via Checkr, and pipeline reporting support
**What You Bring:**
The role values how you operate over raw experience. Key traits:
- Ability to hold multiple priorities simultaneously; context switches constantly without dropping things
- Fast learner who goes deep: comfortable diving into California compliance, HRIS systems, and recruiting tools without staying at surface level
- Proactive problem-solver: spot issues before they escalate (unapproved timesheets, compliance deadlines, candidate follow-ups) and bring solutions
- 3-5 years in People Ops, HR Generalist, or HR Coordinator role
- ITAR-eligible (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident)
- Onsite in Hawthorne required
- Experience with Rippling, Greenhouse, Juicebox, or similar HR/recruiting tools is a strong plus
The company is well-funded, generating revenue, and recently moved into a new large HQ in Hawthorne with continued presence in Torrance. While onsite presence is required, the company provides flexibility.
