Nooks is an applied AI lab building the Agent Workspace for GTM, designing AI agents that operate across the full sales action set. The company has raised $70M+ from top VCs including Kleiner Perkins, serves over 1,500 customers (including Notion, HubSpot, Cursor, and Rippling), and has tripled ARR each year for three consecutive years.
You will own and support many of the operational programs employees interact with throughout their tenure at Nooks, including HRIS, onboarding, benefits, leaves, immigration, Total Rewards administration, and employee lifecycle operations. This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco (3 days onsite).
Key responsibilities:
- Own and develop core people operations processes, including onboarding, offboarding, benefits, compliance, and employee lifecycle management
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers navigating People programs, policies, and systems
- Help own the HRIS and broader People tech stack, including system configuration, employee data, workflows, integrations, reporting, and troubleshooting
- Own the operational side of onboarding and ensure every new hire has a smooth experience from signed offer through their first weeks
- Administer benefits programs and support employees with enrollment, eligibility, qualifying life events, and benefits questions
- Manage employee leaves and accommodations in partnership with employees, managers, vendors, and Legal
- Own the operational coordination of the immigration program in partnership with external immigration counsel
- Serve as point of contact for employee questions related to benefits, onboarding, immigration, leaves of absence, and time off
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws and stay ahead of regulatory changes
- Handle other People or general operations responsibilities as needed

REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of practical experience in a People or HR-related role, ideally in a high-growth startup environment
- Detail-oriented and data-driven mindset with ability to identify areas of improvement in operational cadence
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple recurring processes, deadlines, and employee needs simultaneously
- Experience owning or significantly contributing to employee onboarding and lifecycle operations
- Working knowledge of employee leaves and core employment compliance requirements
- Experience administering employee benefits and partnering with benefits brokers and vendors
- System-mindset: ability to simplify, automate, document, and improve processes
- Proactivity in problem-solving—you don't just spot gaps; you fill them
NICE TO HAVES:
- Knowledge of HR compliance and regulations
- Direct involvement in scaling startups from early-stage to larger organizational structures
- Experience with HRIS systems, people analytics tools, and large datasets
