TensorWave is building a cloud platform for AI compute infrastructure, enabling builders to focus on innovation rather than infrastructure challenges. The company is seeking a People Business Partner to serve as a strategic People Operations advisor to leaders across the organization.
In this high-impact, hands-on role, you will be the go-to People Operations partner for assigned client groups, coaching managers, guiding talent and performance decisions, and translating business priorities into people plans. You'll work closely with Employee Relations, Recruiting, and People Experience teams to bring comprehensive People Operations support to leaders.
Key responsibilities include:
**Strategic Business Partnership:** Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders, building deep understanding of their goals and challenges. Translate business priorities into people plans covering headcount, team structure, and succession. Partner on organizational design, team growth, and restructurings as the company scales. Use people data to surface insights and recommend proactive action.
**Manager Coaching & Leadership Development:** Coach people managers on day-to-day leadership skills including expectation-setting, feedback, and difficult conversations. Equip new and first-time managers with tools and guidance. Identify leadership capability gaps and partner on development solutions. Serve as a sounding board for sensitive people decisions.
**Performance & Talent Management:** Guide leaders through performance cycles ensuring fair, consistent, and well-documented decisions. Partner on performance issues and escalate to Employee Relations when needed. Lead talent reviews and succession conversations. Support career development and internal mobility.
**Employee Relations & Engagement:** Serve as first point of contact for employee concerns within your client groups. Monitor engagement and retention signals and partner on action plans. Support onboarding and offboarding experiences. Ensure policies are consistently applied.
**Cross-Functional Partnership:** Partner with Talent Acquisition on workforce planning and hiring priorities. Collaborate on compensation planning and promotions. Roll out company-wide programs. Bring business voice back to People Operations.
This role is ideal for someone with start-up or scaling environment experience, comfortable wearing multiple hats, and seeking real influence over how the company grows its teams and leaders.
**Requirements:**

- Experience at a tech company, start-up, or similarly fast-paced environment
- Experience partnering with technical organizations and understanding product/engineering team dynamics
- Proven track record as trusted advisor to senior managers with credibility to influence decisions and push back when needed
- Experience guiding leaders through organizational design, change management, and team growth (start-up or high-growth environment strongly preferred)
- Strong coaching skills; help managers become better leaders rather than solving every problem
- Working knowledge of employment law and best practices in North America; judgment to know when to resolve issues versus escalate to Employee Relations or Legal
- Comfortable supporting distributed/remote workforce across multiple states or countries
- Experience with performance management, talent reviews, compensation cycles, and career development frameworks
- Comfort working with people data and using it to drive decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain People Operations programs simply to all levels
- High emotional intelligence, discretion, and integrity
- Experience with People Operations systems and people analytics tools (e.g., Rippling, HiBob, Lattice, or similar)
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP, or similar certification
- Experience in AI/ML companies or with technical teams building cutting-edge technology
- Understanding of technical career ladders, engineering culture, and scaling technical organizations
- Deep commitment to supporting diverse employees and managers at all levels
