Etched is building the world's first AI inference system purpose-built for transformers, delivering over 10x higher performance and dramatically lower cost and latency than existing solutions. The company is developing model-specific ASICs that enable products impossible with GPUs, such as real-time video generation models and deep chain-of-thought reasoning agents.
As a PCB Layout Engineer, you will design and optimize high-performance printed circuit boards for data center products using Cadence Allegro PCB design tools. Your primary focus will be high-speed signaling (100G applications), power distribution networks, large BGA ball-map breakouts, and complex HDI PCB stack-ups.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead design and optimization of high-speed PCB layouts using Cadence Allegro for 100G signaling, implementing impedance matching, trace routing, and crosstalk mitigation strategies
- Develop and implement power distribution networks for data center hardware, including power planes, decoupling strategies, and thermal management solutions
- Manage design of complex High-Density Interconnect (HDI) PCB stack-ups for multi-layer boards, integrating blind/buried vias and microvias
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to integrate PCB designs within overall system architecture and optimize for performance, manufacturability, and system-level objectives
Etched is a fully in-person team in San Jose and Taipei, valuing engineering skills highly with no boundaries between engineering and research. All technical staff are expected to contribute to both as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field (advanced degrees or certifications a plus)
- 10 years of experience in PCB layout design with focus on high-speed signaling, power distribution, and HDI stack-ups, ideally for high-performance data center products
- Proficiency in Cadence Allegro PCB design tools
- In-depth knowledge of high-speed digital design principles, including signal integrity and impedance control
- Experience with complex HDI PCB design and manufacturing processes
- Understanding of power distribution network design and thermal management techniques for data center applications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
