Despegar, Latin America's largest travel-tech company with 25+ years of industry disruption, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to optimize payroll management for Colombian operations while driving AI and automation initiatives.
You will own end-to-end payroll processing and administration for 600+ employees in Colombia, including:
**Payroll Operations:**
- Prepare, process, and centralize payroll data (attendance, vacation, leaves, variables, disabilities)
- Upload data to provider systems for payroll liquidation
- Process payment requests for employees, third parties, and social charges
- Perform accounting reconciliation of payroll (local Colombian accounts and corporate)
- Generate audit reports and provisions documentation
- Build balance reconciliations with corporate to ensure alignment
- Centralize payroll components for accounting closures
- Support internal and external audits (approximately three annually)
**HR Administration & Compliance:**
- Manage hiring process and contract preparation
- Handle benefits administration (health insurance, meal cards, policies)
- Manage social security affiliations (ARL, EPS, parafiscals, compensation funds)
- Audit hiring documentation
- Support employee onboarding
- Generate employment certificates
**Technology & Transformation:**
- Lead projects to optimize payroll processes using AI and automation tools
- Apply AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot) to streamline workflows
You'll work in a hybrid model (2 days/week in Buenos Aires office) as part of Prosus, one of the world's largest tech ecosystems. The role emphasizes autonomy, impact at scale, and using technology to work smarter.
**Requirements:**
- Education: Administration, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, Human Resources, or related field
- Minimum 4 years managing payroll for 600+ employees in Colombia
- Hard Skills: AI application (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot); payroll liquidation systems and advanced Excel; Colombian labor legislation (ARL, EPS, parafiscals, compensation funds)
- Soft Skills: Proactivity, self-management, teamwork, relationship building
**Desirable:**
- Experience with payroll in other LATAM countries (Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, Chile)
- English proficiency
- Oracle HCM or Designer experience
