Salary: CAD 82,000 - 102,000 / annual
Jetson is building the first fully vertically integrated home electrification company, on a mission to accelerate the transition of 100 million homes across North America away from fossil fuels toward sustainable energy. The company combines technology, automation, and data to make clean energy simple, transparent, and affordable.
You will own payroll operations across Canada and the United States as part of the Accounting & Finance team. This is a highly visible role where accuracy, compliance, and sound judgment are critical. You'll manage pay for a fast-growing workforce including hourly, salaried, piece-rate, and commissioned employees, and have the opportunity to shape payroll processes as the company scales into new markets.
Key responsibilities:
- Run end-to-end payroll in ADP for Canada and the US, covering hourly, salaried, piece-rate, and commission-earning employees
- Calculate and verify piece-rate pay for field technicians, including minimum wage floors, overtime, and vacation/PTO rules across provinces and states
- Calculate sales commissions with Sales and Finance teams, reconcile against CRM and sales data, and ensure accurate and timely payment
- Report to the Accounting & Finance team: reconcile payroll to the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and support month-end close and audits
- Ensure compliance with Canadian and US payroll requirements, including provincial/state employment standards, CRA and IRS withholding and remittances, workers' compensation, and year-end T4 and W-2 filings
- Maintain employee pay data and ADP setup (earnings codes, deductions, benefits), and answer employee payroll questions
- Set up payroll for new provinces and states as Jetson expands, and identify opportunities to automate and improve payroll processes
Requirements:
- 5+ years of payroll experience, ideally across both Canada and the US
- PCP/CPM (Canada) or CPP (US) designation is an asset
- Strong hands-on expertise with ADP (Workforce Now or similar)
- Experience paying mixed workforces: hourly, salaried, piece-rate, and variable or commission pay
- Solid knowledge of multi-jurisdiction payroll compliance (CRA, IRS, provincial and state rules)
- High accuracy, strong Excel/Sheets skills, and sound judgment with confidential information
- Familiarity with modern tools, including AI, for efficiency and automation
