You will own the partnerships and sponsorships portfolio end-to-end, managing both paid media partnerships (sponsorships, ads, media buys) and unpaid co-marketing and ecosystem partnerships. Your responsibilities include:
**Paid Partnerships & Sponsorships:**
Own the full lifecycle of sponsorships and partnerships across emerging media, creator-led channels, events, industry properties, and large-scale cultural and sports properties. Source and evaluate opportunities based on audience fit and cost per relevant reach. Negotiate and structure deals including rate, term, exclusivity, deliverables, content rights, approval rights, make-goods, and exit clauses. Build and maintain a price menu and portfolio view to track sponsorship costs across categories and measure value received.
**Unpaid Partnerships:**
Develop co-marketing partnerships with brands, platforms, and ecosystem organizations whose audiences overlap with engineers, technicians, and operators. Build institutional pipelines with universities, trade schools, apprenticeship programs, and veterans organizations aligned with talent brand and recruiting goals. Develop relationships with industry associations, reindustrialization organizations, and relevant community groups in manufacturing site markets.
**Activation & Operations:**
Run activation end-to-end after signature. Own deliverable calendars, creative inputs, approvals, and internal coordination. Partner with events on physical activations and with communications on public-facing placements. Manage partner and agency relationships day-to-day as the single point of contact.
**Measurement & Rigor:**
Define evaluation frameworks and measurement approaches before committing budget. Run renewal and post-campaign reviews with honest kill recommendations on underperforming partnerships. Track spend against budget and provide leadership with clear visibility on committed and available dollars. Manage inbound offers with a consistent, fast, and respectful process.
Some travel expected for partner meetings and activations.
**Requirements:**
- 6+ years in partnerships, sponsorships, media buying, brand marketing, or business development with direct ownership of deals and budget
- Demonstrated deal fluency: sourced, negotiated, and closed partnership or sponsorship agreements; knowledge of protective contract terms
- Credibility in both paid media partnerships and unpaid partnerships built on mutual interest
- Analytical honesty: ability to build business cases and decline deals when numbers do not support them, including deals leadership favors
- Activation discipline: operated partnerships post-signature and can demonstrate what was done to drive results
- Comfort being the first dedicated owner of this function and building processes, templates, and tracking from scratch
- Clear, brief writing; ability to present recommendations to executive audiences
- Willingness to travel
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience with podcast, newsletter, and creator-led video sponsorships, including host-read and integrated format performance
- Experience with large-scale sports, entertainment, or cultural sponsorships and required activation work
- Background in hard technology, aerospace, defense, industrials, or similar with communications sensitivity and comfort with review and export-control constraints
- Experience running partnerships against recruiting and employer brand goals
- Agency-side experience or strong track record managing agencies from client side
- Existing network across media properties, creator representation, or manufacturing and reindustrialization ecosystem
