Blank Street is a food and beverage brand on a mission to become the defining brand of its generation through elevated products and exceptional experiences.
As Operations Manager, you will lead an entire area of 5+ stores and the General Managers who run them. Your primary responsibility is growing people—hiring, coaching, and developing General Managers into confident leaders who build engaged, high-performing teams. You will also be the strategic mind behind your stores, owning the area's P&L and deciding how to plan, prioritize, and execute so stores improve day by day.
Key responsibilities include:
**Hospitality Leadership**: Coach GMs to build systems, behaviors, and processes that maintain high hospitality standards every shift. Hold standards through regular store visits and data analysis. Take an active role in turning around struggling stores and launching new locations.
**P&L Management**: Translate quarterly sales forecasts from HQ into store-by-store plans. Set labor targets a quarter out, including headcount and transfers. Help GMs calibrate inventory to forecast demand with clear guardrails.
**Team Development**: Grow GMs into future leaders through training pathways, regular 1:1s, and direct feedback. Own the talent pipeline by calibrating hiring and promotion decisions across your area. Set quarterly succession targets from barista to GM. Build an area-wide culture that is fast-moving, high-energy, collaborative, and fun.
**Strategic Operations**: Master your stores' KPIs and P&L; set clear priorities weekly and quarterly. Work with each GM to build store plans and track execution. Roll out new initiatives (menu launches, tech tools) with clear communication, hands-on training, and real buy-in from teams.
You will report to the Director of Operations and work closely with the Field Leadership team to scale the next generation of leaders while driving exceptional experiences for teams and customers.
**Requirements:**
- 5+ years of leadership experience in hospitality, retail, or another fast-growing consumer business
- Experience leading multiple locations (3–10) and developing the managers who run them
- Passionate about hospitality and creating exceptional customer and employee experiences
- Strong operational and financial judgment; able to read P&L and KPI dashboards and determine next steps
- Proven track record developing managers; able to hire A-teams, coach, make decisions, and lead through change
- Strategic planning capability; able to plan a quarter ahead and translate priorities into actionable plans for GMs
- Excellent communication skills in writing (Slack, Notion, email) and speech (area meetings, workshops)
- Able to travel regularly between stores within your market
- Full-time commitment: 50 hours per week, 5 days availability required, must be available to work 2 peak days (typically Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
