Blank Street is seeking an Operations Manager to lead an entire area of 5+ stores and the General Managers who oversee them. This is a people-focused leadership role where your primary responsibility is growing and developing an A-team of GMs into confident leaders who build engaged, high-performing teams across stores. You will own your area's P&L and serve as the strategic mind behind store performance. Your key responsibilities include: **Hospitality Leadership**: Coach GMs to build systems and processes that maintain high hospitality standards every shift. Conduct regular store visits and use data to hold GMs accountable for closing performance gaps. Take an active role in turning around struggling stores and launching new locations. **P&L Management**: Translate quarterly sales forecasts from HQ into store-by-store plans. Set labor targets a quarter in advance, including headcount and inter-store transfers, and coach GMs to build rotas accordingly. Help GMs calibrate inventory to match demand forecasts and establish guardrails to prevent overstocking or shortages. **Team Development**: Grow GMs into future leaders through training pathways, regular 1:1s, and direct feedback. Own the talent pipeline by calibrating hiring and promotion decisions across your area and setting quarterly succession targets from barista to GM. Build an area-wide culture that is fast-moving, high-energy, collaborative, and distinctly Blank Street. **Strategic Operations**: Master your stores' KPIs and P&L, setting clear priorities weekly and quarterly. Work with each GM to build store-specific plans and stay close during execution. Roll out new initiatives (menu launches, tech tools) across your area with clear communication, hands-on training, and tracking until adoption sticks. You will report to the Director of Operations and work closely with the Field Leadership team to scale the next generation of leaders while driving exceptional experiences for teams and customers. **Requirements**: - 5+ years of leadership experience in hospitality, retail, or another fast-growing consumer business - Experience leading multiple locations (3–10) and developing the managers who run them - Passionate about hospitality and creating exceptional customer and employee experiences - Strong operational and financial judgment; ability to read P&L and KPI dashboards and determine next steps - Proven track record developing managers; ability to hire A-teams, coach, make decisions, and lead through change - Strategic planning capability; ability to plan a quarter ahead and translate priorities into actionable plans for GMs - Excellent communication skills in writing (Slack, Notion, email) and speech (area meetings, workshops) - Able to travel regularly between stores within your market - Full-time commitment: 50 hours per week, 5 days availability required, must be available to work 2 peak days (typically Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
