Salary: USD 75,000 - 90,000 / annual
Via is a transportation technology platform that powers modern public transit networks globally. As Operations Manager in Rochester, MN, you will lead daily onsite operations for a transit service, ensuring safe, reliable, and accessible transportation for riders and the community.
You will own real-time operational decisions across fleet management, driver supply, compliance, and rider experience. Key responsibilities include: running smooth daily operations; making informed decisions about fleet, drivers, compliance, and unexpected issues; building strong relationships with and supporting drivers; translating rider and community feedback into operational improvements; using data and technology to diagnose problems and enhance efficiency; and serving as the operational bridge between city partners, drivers, and Via's central teams.
This is a high-ownership, boots-on-the-ground role requiring 4–5 days per week onsite. You'll be hands-on in the field, learning the service firsthand, and solving problems where they occur. The role demands both tactical problem-solving for immediate issues and strategic thinking for long-term mitigation.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Operationally experienced with background in people management, logistics, customer service, or process-oriented work
- Relationship-oriented; ability to earn trust from drivers, riders, teammates, and city partners through clear communication and follow-through
- Hands-on and proactive; preference for field work and learning service firsthand
- Tactical and strategic problem-solving ability
- Mission-driven, motivated by expanding transportation access
- Deep understanding of fixed-route transit challenges: time-point adherence, breakdown escalations, run scheduling for large-scale operations
- Comfortable working around Class B/Class A vehicles (35–45-foot coach buses); understanding of safety, maintenance, and maneuvering requirements
- Proven track record managing and retaining professional CDL drivers
- Experience emphasizing safety and compliance culture (DOT/FMCSA) in high-pressure, scheduled environments
- Based in Rochester, MN; available onsite 4–5 days per week
