Sennder is Europe's leading digital freight forwarder, modernizing road logistics through proprietary technology and automation. We're seeking an Operations Manager to join our Amsterdam office and support our operational team in serving key customers across Europe.
In this role, you will develop supply chain solutions that support customer go-to-market strategies and manage carrier relationships. Key responsibilities include:
• Building and maintaining contractual relationships with carriers; negotiating spot market commitments and transportation rates
• Conducting outbound calls to carriers to determine availability, commitment levels, and pricing
• Applying trucks to loads in both contractual and transactional arrangements
• Providing day-to-day status updates to customers and identifying operational issues
• Resolving problems by thinking critically, seeking input from stakeholders, and implementing solutions
• Maintaining and growing relationships with customer and carrier accounts; identifying collaboration opportunities
• Researching new carriers in the marketplace, generating leads, and building new relationships
• Ensuring customer load requirements are met on committed and ad-hoc shipments
• Identifying backup carriers for critical situations
• Studying market trends, seasonality, and competitive dynamics
• Aligning with branch strategy and vision
You'll work in a fast-moving, international environment where your ideas have tangible impact on the logistics industry. The role involves collaboration across European offices and requires strong problem-solving and relationship-building skills.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
• Experience in freight forwarding and/or transport industry (carrier-facing roles preferred, but not mandatory)
• Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
• Entrepreneurial character and international mindset
• Strong ability to persuade, motivate, negotiate, and influence others
• Ability to thrive under deadlines while delivering independent results
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset
• Preferred: Advanced knowledge of Dutch or German; fluency in additional languages a plus
• Preferred: Already based in Amsterdam or willing to relocate
