Finary is a mission-driven fintech platform democratizing wealth management and investing for over 1 million users in France. Founded in 2021 by Mounir Laggoune and backed by Y Combinator, Hedosophia, and Speedinvest, the company recently secured dual regulatory licenses (MiCA and Investment Firm) from the AMF, positioning it as one of few French platforms offering stocks, ETFs, and crypto on a single regulated platform.
You will lead a small operations team (5 people) responsible for processing and orchestrating work across wealth aggregation and investment products. This is not a support function—you own the operational systems that enable Finary to scale with systems rather than headcount, ensuring exact compliance and excellent client experience simultaneously.
Key responsibilities:
- Build the systems, rules, and AI agents your team runs on (60% of your time). You ship internal tools and automations; leading by example means the systems your team uses on Monday are ones you built.
- Coach and develop your team (40% of your time) to turn one-time solutions into reusable system rules. Success is measured by what they ship without you, not what you unblock.
- Design event detection and alerting: determine which operational events (sync breaks, provider blocks, compliance stalls) are caught at source rather than learned from clients, and what thresholds trigger action.
- Define the human-machine boundary: decide which work remains human-touched versus automated, and communicate these shifts to the team each quarter.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Compliance to embed operations into company-wide systems rather than bolting it on as an afterthought.
- Maintain quality standards for client interactions, especially when escalations reach humans—the stakes are already high.
You'll work in a 70-person team that values direct communication, radical candor, and AI-first thinking. The culture emphasizes real ownership, tier-1 compensation, and hybrid flexibility from the Paris office.
Requirements:
- Proven track record leading a small team, with concrete examples of what each person could do a year later that they couldn't before.
- Recent hands-on building experience: internal tools, automations, or AI agents used daily by your team. Not specced for engineering; actually built by you.
- Demonstrated use of AI as a team multiplier, with examples of capabilities you unlocked for the team, not just yourself.
- Ability to investigate ambiguous problems and convert solutions into reusable system rules rather than one-off fixes.
- Comfortable with APIs, data flows, and frontend/backend logic. You don't need to code, but must understand what you're automating and engage engineers as a peer.
- Strong communication and empathy, especially under high-stakes conditions. Can hold a standard in a room without formal authority.
- Deep care for client experience and how interactions feel, not just case resolution.
- Fluent in both French and English.
- Nice to have: exposure to regulated environments (banking, insurance, crypto).
Not a fit if you lead primarily through process and reporting, measure success by cases closed or headcount growth, view team automation as a threat, or require an existing playbook to operate.
