Kin Insurance is seeking an Operations & Compliance Analyst to own the licensing, reporting, audit, and vendor coordination work for Kin Financing, the company's home lending program (mortgage and home equity products). This role transfers operational and compliance responsibilities from the General Manager so leadership can focus on business growth.
You will manage ongoing reporting obligations to licensing bodies, investors, warehouse lenders, and service providers. You'll own the renewal calendar for all Kin Financing lending licenses and run the application process for new state licenses, warehouse lenders, investors, and service providers from initial filing through approval. You'll maintain Kin Financing's policies and procedures to ensure they accurately reflect how the business operates, coordinate audits end-to-end, and own post-audit remediation through closure.
You'll drive the vendor contract review and approval process in partnership with Legal, Finance, and Information Security teams. A key part of this role is documenting inherited processes and refining them—once you understand the work deeply enough to identify improvements, you'll bring forward concrete changes. You're expected to leverage AI tools to work faster and with better coverage, including researching regulatory requirements, drafting initial policy and process documentation, and reducing manual work on recurring reporting.
Kin Financing is early-stage and growing fast. As new products, states, and partners come online, this role grows with the business toward program and project management for those interested in that career path. No mortgage, financial services, or legal background is required; your first months focus on learning the work properly—how filings are built, which deadlines matter and why, and who to contact internally and externally.
Success in your first year means the GM has reclaimed time for growth, every reporting deadline and license renewal moves on schedule without errors, internal teams and external partners come to you directly on this work, and you've put forward concrete improvements to how operations run.
Kin is a remote-first employer founded in 2016, serving customers in 14 states with offices in Chicago, IL and St. Petersburg, FL. The company has been recognized as a Forbes Fintech 50 company, a Built In Chicago Best Place to Work, and a Great Place to Work Certified employer.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree
- 1–3 years of professional experience in a role with recurring hard deadlines and external-facing obligations (reporting, filings, client deliverables, vendor or partner coordination)
- Track record of accurate work in a context where mistakes carry consequences (filings, financial records, contracts, regulated reporting, or similar)
- Ability to pick up unfamiliar rules, systems, or procedures quickly and get them right, asking questions early rather than guessing
- Experience taking over work from someone else and running it without needing it re-explained
- Written and verbal communication that stands on its own with external parties like regulators, auditors, lenders, and vendors, without leadership rewriting it first
- Interest in growing into program or project management
