Nox Metals is a technology-enabled supplier of aluminum plate, bar, and rounds to aerospace and defense manufacturers in Metro Detroit. The company uses software and automation to accelerate supply chain speed for American factories.
You will serve as the General Manager's right hand, operating across both factory floor and office. This is a high-ownership role where you'll learn the complete operation—from order quote through cutting to shipping—and identify bottlenecks. You'll own projects end-to-end, from problem diagnosis to resolution. Key responsibilities include:
• Learn the factory workflow and pinpoint where orders get stuck
• Keep the GM organized by tracking priorities, following up on open items, and preventing gaps
• Own projects from conception through completion
• Analyze operational metrics (capacity, labor hours, cost per unit, on-time shipping) to inform strategy
• Collaborate with shift leads, quality, receiving, and shipping teams to hit daily order targets
• Step in wherever needed—floor or office—to keep operations moving
• Ensure all SOPs are followed and flag broken processes for improvement
As Nox opens new plants, you'll be the person who keeps the Detroit facility running smoothly while the GM is deployed elsewhere. You report directly to the General Manager.
This is not a 40-hour role. Expect 60–80 hours per week, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends, for the foreseeable future. You'll need to stay sharp and effective despite the intensity.
You don't need a manufacturing background. The company values people from finance, engineering, and supply chain who are willing to work hard, take on whatever needs doing, and figure it out.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Thorough and detail-oriented; you finish the job and check your own work
• High agency; you don't wait for permission or perfect directions
• Quick learner, smart, able to master unfamiliar domains
• Capable of sustaining 60–80 hour weeks while remaining sharp
• Track record of building something (business, side hustle, club, team—even if unsuccessful)
• Comfortable on a factory floor and with manufacturing workers
• Clear, direct communicator who can tell a manager what's wrong and how to fix it
• Strong spreadsheet skills and comfort with numbers
• Ownership mindset; you don't say "that's not my job"
Nice to have:
• Manufacturing, operations, or supply chain experience
• Experience leading people in any setting
• Startup or fast-growing company experience
• Comfort using AI tools to work faster and smarter
