Otter is a software platform that helps restaurants succeed in online food delivery. The company powers delivery operations for major brands including Chick-fil-A, Ben & Jerry's, KFC, and Eataly, addressing a rapidly growing market (projected to reach $500B–$1T by 2030).
You'll join the data & operations team as an Operations Analytics Engineer, responsible for monitoring the health of Otter's top revenue products through data-driven insights. This role bridges technical data quality work with operational problem-solving, requiring you to identify anomalies in performance, surface issues across data pipelines, and ensure that customer-facing data is accurate and actionable.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitor core KPIs across customers, segments, and systems to detect unexpected drops, spikes, or anomalies
- Investigate root causes of business performance issues, distinguishing between data problems, operational breakdowns, and genuine product/customer behavior changes
- Build and maintain dashboards, alerts, and monitoring systems to detect early signs of revenue degradation
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering (to debug technical issues), Operations (to flag workflow gaps), and Product (to validate system behavior)
- Maintain and evolve business health checks that serve as early-warning systems
- Create documentation and playbooks to improve incident response times and support proactive quality practices
You'll need strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in SQL and BI/dashboarding tools (Looker, Tableau, Mode). A cross-functional mindset is essential—you'll work comfortably with data engineers, product managers, and operations specialists. The role emphasizes ownership and bias for action: you don't just surface issues, you help solve them. Experience with data quality monitoring tools or operational alerting systems is a bonus.
The role is based in Los Angeles with five-day-per-week onsite work. Compensation includes a base salary of $93,000–$109,000 annually, plus equity awards and performance-based bonuses. Full benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401(k), HSA, flexible PTO, paid holidays, and parental leave.
