Salary: GBP 94,700 - 111,400 / annual
Monzo is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Operational Tax Senior Manager to lead the operational tax function across the UK and Europe. You will join the Tax Team, reporting to the Tax Governance Lead, and own all taxes that touch customers and their tax reporting obligations.
Key responsibilities include:
• Serving as Monzo's subject matter expert on operational tax, advising the business and ensuring compliance as the company grows and enters new markets.
• Leading compliance and controls across jurisdictions, including BBSI, ISA reporting, FATCA and CRS, Corporate Criminal Offence and CT61s, plus overseas equivalents. Building new processes and controls as products and markets evolve.
• Partnering with Product and local market teams from the outset to embed tax into product design, build appropriate reporting and controls, and pressure-test edge cases.
• Staying current with tax laws, regulations and case law across the UK and EU, translating changes into clear actions and helping Monzo prepare for new requirements.
• Collaborating across Product, Financial Crime, Engineering, Legal, EU Next Markets and Finance teams to solve problems and support business initiatives from an operational tax perspective.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
• Qualified accountant and/or qualified tax advisor, or qualified by significant experience
• Significant in-house experience working in Operational Tax
• Comfortable working relatively autonomously
• Energetic, hands-on approach to work
• Strong attention to detail and methodical approach to processes
• Enthusiasm for Monzo's mission and products
