Greptile is an AI code reviewer that catches bugs and anti-patterns in pull requests with complete codebase context. The company reviews 5 billion lines of code monthly for 22,000+ customers across software, finance, healthcare, and defense sectors. This is Greptile's first accounting hire, reporting to the Head of Finance.
You will own accounting end-to-end, transitioning the company from outsourced bookkeeping to an audit-ready accounting function, then build the team as the company scales. Key responsibilities include:
- Build and own monthly and quarterly close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, flux analysis, and financial statements
- Own revenue recognition across self-serve, enterprise, and usage-based contracts, including ASC 606 policy and technical memos
- Set technical accounting positions for equity, leases, capitalized software, R&D capitalization, and complex deal structures
- Build accounting for compute and inference spend, including prepaid commitments, consumption accruals, and gross margin reporting
- Lead implementation of an AI-native ERP and integrations across billing, banking, cards, payroll, and cap table management
- Own tax and compliance functions including corporate tax, sales tax, R&D credits, 1099s, and state filings
- Run accounting operations across AP, AR, collections, payroll accounting, expenses, and treasury
- Get Greptile audit-ready and lead the first external audit
- Build and scale the accounting team
The role requires at least three days per week in the San Francisco office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller, Assistant Controller, Director, or Senior Accounting Manager scope at a high-growth technology company
- CPA with Big Four audit foundation, ideally in a technology practice
- Deep ASC 606 experience in subscription and consumption-based businesses
- Experience owning the close and leading or supporting an external audit
- Experience building an accounting function or major part of one from the ground up
- Ability to write and defend technical accounting memos for complex transactions
- Hands-on ERP implementation experience
- Serious AI usage in your own work with strong opinions on accounting improvements
Nice to have: experience with both self-serve and enterprise sales motions, accounting leadership through Series B-E fundraise or IPO diligence, SQL proficiency or data validation comfort.
