REGENT is building Seagliders—wing-in-ground-effect craft that travel just above water at 180 mph with 180-mile range on current battery technology (up to 400 miles with next-gen batteries). The company is scaling from prototype to full production following a $240M Series B, combining commercial coastal transportation with defense applications.
As Director of Finance, you will lead REGENT's Finance function and serve as Controller through the next growth stage. You'll lead a Finance team while remaining hands-on, owning accounting, financial planning and modeling, analysis, and reporting. Your core responsibilities include:
- Lead the Finance team, setting priorities, developing talent, and building clarity and accountability as the company scales.
- Build manufacturing and program finance visibility by partnering with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, and People to understand material costs, labor, overhead, inventory, CapEx, supplier commitments, and product economics.
- Own financial planning and modeling, personally building and maintaining budgets, forecasts, cash/runway analysis, scenario planning, program investment models, and CapEx projections.
- Shape business and capital decisions by partnering with leadership to evaluate investments and tradeoffs across programs, headcount, manufacturing capacity, suppliers, and facilities.
- Own accounting, reporting, and audit preparation, ensuring accurate and defensible numbers for the board, investors, auditors, and government customers, including managing the company's first external audit.
- Lead ERP implementation, owning financial design and implementation including chart of accounts, costing, inventory/WIP, procure-to-pay, program accounting, revenue recognition, and reporting.
- Scale Finance operations and controls, building systems, processes, and controls appropriate for a growing manufacturing company.
You'll work closely with cross-functional leaders to translate financial information into strategic decisions and help non-Finance executives understand financial implications of their choices. This is a build-stage role where you'll strengthen financial infrastructure as REGENT transitions from prototype development to production.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep GAAP fluency and technical accounting judgment; prior experience as Controller, Assistant Controller, Director of Accounting, or Finance leader directly owning the accounting function and responsible for technical accounting decisions.
- Manufacturing finance leadership experience in hardware, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, industrial, or capital-intensive environments; understanding of long development cycles, supply chains, inventory, material/labor costs, CapEx, working capital, and production investment.
- Strategic and cross-functional leadership experience partnering with executives to turn financial information into decisions; ability to challenge assumptions and help non-Finance leaders understand financial implications.
- External audit experience; familiarity with what auditors require and how to prepare; prior experience taking a company through its first audit is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated financial modeling depth, personally building and owning models that drove business decisions including operating plans, cash/runway forecasts, scenario analyses, and investment models.
- ERP implementation experience with meaningful involvement in implementing or scaling an ERP; understanding of decisions behind processes, data, controls, reporting, and costing; NetSuite experience is a significant advantage.
- People leadership experience developing Finance teams with clear expectations, accountability, coaching, context, and support.
- Experience building through growth in companies where systems and processes weren't pre-established; comfort with ambiguity and building financial rigor without unnecessary complexity.
- Genuine mission alignment with REGENT's work in Seagliders, coastal transportation, defense applications, and bringing first-of-a-kind technology to production.
