Salary: USD 170,400 - 205,000 / annual
Scale is seeking a National Security Policy Senior Manager to support government relations and policy engagement with the National Security apparatus, Congress, and the Administration. This role sits within Scale's growing Government Relations function and reports to the National Security Policy Lead.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting Scale's AI policy engagement with national security agencies and the DoD
- Collaborating with the Public Sector Business Unit to shape and support programs at the DoD, Intelligence Agencies, and related organizations, focusing on funding, requirements, and business growth
- Contributing to the formation and execution of Scale's policy strategy and priorities
- Coordinating cross-functional efforts between Government Relations and the Public Sector Business Unit, including workflow improvements and development of templates and playbooks
- Preparing briefing materials, memos, and talking points for senior leader engagements, meetings, conferences, and public forums
- Managing stakeholder relationships and tracking to support long-term engagement planning and follow-through
- Providing administrative support for external consultants, advisors, and executive engagements
- Drafting internal updates and synthesized analysis on policy announcements, legislative changes, and national security developments, translating implications for Scale's business
- Developing and maintaining a national security policy calendar and roadmap, tracking PPBE timelines, DoD budget cycles, leadership transitions, and executive branch actions
- Supporting engagements with industry trade associations, think tanks, and external stakeholder groups
- Monitoring policy and regulatory changes for business impact
Ideal candidates bring 5-8 years of experience in defense policy, government, defense tech, or the defense industry. Additional strengths include experience with consensus-building at trade associations or standards bodies, supporting company responses to rulemakings, excellent communication skills, technical background (research, technology policy, government technical agencies, or tech sector experience), and ability to manage multiple workstreams. Startup or tech company experience is a plus.
