LemFi is a Series B fintech company building financial infrastructure for the Global South, enabling immigrants to send remittances, manage multi-currency accounts, access credit, and build wealth across borders. The company processes over $1B in monthly transactions to 30+ countries with a team of 400+ spanning 20+ countries.
As the designated MLRO (PCF-52) for LemFi's Irish regulated payment institution, you will own the entire AML/CFT compliance function and serve as the primary regulatory interface with the Central Bank of Ireland and FIU Ireland. This is a strategic compliance leadership role, not a policy-maintenance position.
Key responsibilities include: owning the Irish AML/CFT programme end-to-end (policy, procedures, controls, training, management information); acting as designated MLRO to receive, assess, and report suspicious transactions to FIU Ireland and ROS; serving as primary point of contact with the Central Bank of Ireland, banking partners, and competent authorities; leading internal and external AML/CFT audits and managing remediation; preparing board-level compliance reports; collaborating with global compliance counterparts to embed Irish regulatory requirements into group frameworks; and leveraging AI tools to accelerate regulatory correspondence and policy documentation.
You will sit on the compliance leadership team, contribute to group compliance strategy, and be the expert voice the business relies on when Irish and EU regulatory requirements shift. The role demands genuine collaboration with a fast-moving team while maintaining rigorous compliance standards and holding the line on AML/CFT controls.
Required experience: at least 5 years in a senior compliance or MLRO role within an Irish or EU-regulated financial services or payments institution, with direct PCF or CF designation experience strongly preferred. You must have comprehensive working knowledge of the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Acts 2010-2021, CBI AML/CFT requirements, and EU AML Directives as transposed into Irish law. Proven track record of direct regulatory engagement with the Central Bank of Ireland (inspections, supervisory queries, licensing applications) is essential. Experience managing or mentoring compliance staff, strong analytical skills with data and MI review, and excellent written/verbal communication are required. You must be comfortable operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment where both the regulatory rulebook and business are evolving simultaneously.
Nice-to-have qualifications include CAMS certification or equivalent AML professional qualification, experience within multi-jurisdictional group compliance structures, and familiarity with regtech or transaction monitoring platforms used in payments or remittance businesses.
