Anduril Industries is seeking an engineering leader to join the Maneuver Dominance team at their Costa Mesa headquarters. This role offers the unique opportunity to bring Thunder's Mission System to life from initial concept through delivery. Thunder is Anduril's Group 5 autonomous tilt-rotor platform, developed in strategic codevelopment partnership with Archer Aviation, combining advanced eVTOL airframe capabilities with Anduril's autonomy, sensing, and command-and-control software. As Mission Systems Lead, you will own the technical development and integration of mission systems for the core Thunder platform, encompassing mission autonomy, mission equipment, and payload systems. Your responsibilities include: - Owning customer success through design and delivery of a fully operational mission system for this new Maneuver Dominance platform - Partnering with the Vehicle Software team on sensor, actuator, and vehicle system functionality, collaborating on interfacing requirements between Vehicle Management System and Mission System stacks - Overseeing payload system integration with the host vehicle mission system stack - Overseeing weapon system integration, including compliance with munitions/range safety and export control requirements - Driving architecture selection and design for robotic mission systems, including hardware selection, compute, storage and network architecture, with consideration of modular open systems approaches (MOSA/WOSA), STANAG 4586 interoperability, and standard weapon/payload interfaces (MIL-STD-1760, MIL-STD-1553) - Owning the mission system's interoperability and open-architecture posture, including compliance with MOSA/WOSA principles and STANAG standards - Defining and owning payload/weapon interface control documents (ICDs) governing MIL-STD-1760 and MIL-STD-1553 integration - Partnering with airworthiness/certification stakeholders to ensure mission system design supports Thunder's path to airworthiness approval - Contributing to company-wide roadmap design for mission system integration into Maneuver Dominance platforms - Leading teams that develop software running on- and off-platform using various technologies - Driving design and implementation of development processes for initial delivery and subsequent iterations You will work closely with program leadership, teams from other Anduril products, and third-party system vendors. The ideal candidate brings experience executing and successfully completing highly optimized multi-disciplinary projects, with strong technical expertise and leadership skills to set objectives, build cross-functional teams, and rapidly drive to completion.
