Anduril Industries is seeking a Lead Mission Systems Software Engineer to join the Maritime team in Boston/Quincy, MA. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on software development for Seabed Sentry, Anduril's next-generation autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) platform designed for ultra-long-range, full-ocean-depth seabed exploration.
You will lead a small team (3-4 engineers initially) and own the core decision-making and autonomy software that powers these autonomous systems. Responsibilities include designing and implementing the logic that enables vehicles to understand their environment, navigate safely, respond to obstacles or threats, and execute complex missions with minimal human intervention.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on contributions to software architecture, implementation, and deployment
- Manage and mentor a growing team, setting priorities and supporting career development
- Own the entire mission systems technical stack, from requirements definition through sustainment and evolution
- Design and implement development processes for payload and mission systems delivery
- Serve as technical owner and subject matter expert, engaging with customers and demonstrating system performance
- Write and maintain core libraries (frame transformations, targeting, guidance, communications) used across Anduril robotics platforms
- Lead major feature development and manage fleet rollout
- Organize integration events and coordinate cross-functional teams
- Travel up to 15% to support real-world testing, deployment, and customer collaboration
The role sits at the intersection of autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking—core to Anduril's mission to bring cutting-edge defense technology to market rapidly. You'll work on multi-million-dollar contracts while scaling a Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) operation.
