Vannevar Labs is a defense technology company building AI systems to deter adversaries and compete with China. The company has grown from $3M to $80M in ARR in three years, achieved early profitability, and reached unicorn status.
You will serve as a forward-deployed Mission Lead, embedding directly with Department of War (DOW) customers across the United States. Based in Tampa, FL, you will travel onsite to sit alongside uniformed service members and civilian operators, working as part of a mission-focused team of engineers and other mission leads.
Your core responsibilities include:
**User Engagement & Trust Building**: Embed with DOW customer groups to build deep intuition for their mission. Earn credibility by understanding user problems and helping solve them over time. You will be the face of Vannevar for many users and customers.
**Problem Decomposition**: Break complex mission problems into specific, testable workflows. Turn ambiguity into hypotheses that can be validated through product workflows.
**Product Configuration & Troubleshooting**: Configure high-value workflows for users through creative, iterative configuration. Debug product issues on deployed DOW systems and work with engineering to resolve them. Some configurations may take hours and multiple iterations daily.
**Mission Impact Generation**: Identify what works, onboard users, and translate wins into evidence of impact. Partner with the Mission team to cultivate relationships with new user groups and generate wins that sustain and expand deployments.
**Independent Operation**: Operate independently on site with support from product, engineering, mission development, and leadership. You will be responsible for deciding where to focus and how to maximize mission impact.
**Professional Presence**: Show up in high-stakes government environments as a trusted technical partner—not a vendor.
This is not a traditional customer success, solutions, or product role. Expect complex problems, murky answers, and moving targets. The work is gritty and directly shapes outcomes for warfighters. You will often work in secure or classified environments and require periodic travel.

- Current Top Secret security clearance required
- Must be based in Tampa, FL
- Ability to work in secure or classified environments
- Willingness to travel periodically
- Experience with complex problem-solving and ambiguity tolerance
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Technical aptitude for product configuration and troubleshooting
