Defense Unicorns is seeking a Mission Director for Autonomous and Unmanned Systems to lead customer success and account growth within the Federal Business Unit. This role combines account management, customer advocacy, and strategic expansion responsibilities for the autonomous and unmanned systems domain. Key responsibilities include maintaining 90%+ revenue retention by building strong relationships with mission partners ("heroes"), ensuring rapid time-to-value for new customers, and driving adoption of Defense Unicorns' products. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior DoD leaders and experienced warfighters, proactively addressing customer needs and resolving issues. The role emphasizes collaborative product development—translating customer capability gaps into product priorities and relaying feedback to the R&D team. You will identify and execute account expansion opportunities, including cross-selling to adjacent programs and modifying contracts to capture new scope. Success metrics include maintaining 80%+ domain revenue retention, achieving >65% gross profit margins post-time-to-value, and tracking KPIs such as hero health scores and adoption rates. You will conduct quarterly business reviews, facilitate post-implementation retrospectives, and champion customer needs across internal teams. The position requires 4–12 travel days annually to engage with federal customers. This is a remote role based in the US, ideal for someone with defense/federal sector experience, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to balance customer success with business profitability.
