Varda Space Industries is building commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems and reentry capsules. The company designs, manufactures, and operates its W-Series vehicles in-house, from satellite buses to heat shields.
As a Mission Assurance Engineer II (titled "Build Reliability Engineer II" in the posting), you will partner with design and manufacturing teams to develop test, manufacturability, and inspection plans for spacecraft hardware. You'll ensure production processes yield verified, reliable hardware at scale, working across Build Reliability, Quality, Flight Reliability, and Mission Assurance functions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with design engineering and manufacturing to create comprehensive test and inspection strategies for all vehicle hardware
- Containing and managing suspect or non-conforming product, guiding quality inspectors, technicians, shop supervisors, and engineers
- Leading failure investigations in production, test, and operational environments; identifying root causes and implementing mitigations to reduce risk and improve design and process reliability
- Providing critical peer review during design reviews and acceptance/qualification test campaigns
- Supporting the scaling of spacecraft production processes and controls
