Eventual is building the next-generation data platform purpose-built for AI applications. Founded in 2022, the company has created Daft, an open-source engine that makes querying multimodal data (images, video, audio, text) as intuitive as working with tables while scaling to production workloads. The platform powers critical systems at Amazon, Mobileye, Together AI, and CloudKitchens. Backed by Felicis, CRV, Microsoft M12, and Y Combinator, Eventual has quadrupled in size within a year and is now expanding further.
As a Member of Technical Staff, you will be a core engineer responsible for building Eventual's products and architecture. You will design and ship features used immediately by customers, working with a tight-knit team that values open communication and cross-functional collaboration. The role involves designing highly reliable and resilient products, working closely with product and customer-facing teams to understand requirements, writing high-quality maintainable code, and designing scalable applications and APIs for the web-based BYOC enterprise product.
The ideal candidate is a strong engineer and problem-solver with excellent coding and architectural fundamentals in languages like Rust, C++, Python, or Go. You should have a technical spike in at least one specialized focus area: Production ML/AI Deployment (experience building/training state-of-the-art models, inference optimization, frameworks like vLLM/SGLang); Large-Scale Distributed Systems & Query Engines (hands-on experience with Spark, BigQuery, Snowflake, Ray, or custom engines; understanding of query planning, optimization, scheduling, memory management); Computer Vision & Multimodal Media (handling unstructured data, video/image decoding pipelines, feature representation at scale); or Computer Graphics & Spatial Computing (3D graphics, game engines, spatial indexes, GPU acceleration, AR/VR/AV experience).
The team works 4 days per week in the SF Mission district office. The company offers competitive compensation, startup equity, catered meals, health/vision/dental coverage, flexible PTO, latest Apple equipment, and a 401k match.
