LatchBio is seeking a Member of Technical Staff for Data Collection & Research to own end-to-end data sourcing and curation for the company's evaluation datasets. This is a newly dedicated full-time role that consolidates work currently distributed across multiple teams. You will identify and evaluate high-value data sources across biology—including literature, patents, public repositories, and proprietary datasets. Key responsibilities include building partnerships with data vendors, institutions, and research labs to secure access to proprietary data; sourcing clinical and molecular datasets directly from institutions; and assembling and preprocessing raw multimodal data (spatial, single-cell, epigenomic, proteomic) into evaluation-ready form. You'll work proactively, staging data before it's needed by the benches rather than reactively. The role recognizes that as AI models improve, building difficult and realistic evaluations increasingly depends on creative, high-quality data curation. Examples of current work include chaining dozens of papers around a single drug for cross-team evals, combining patent filings with publications for therapeutics evals, assembling multimodal datasets, preprocessing raw data for epigenetics, and sourcing clinical genomics data from institutions. Required qualifications: 5+ years hands-on experience with biological or biomedical data; a track record of identifying non-obvious data sources and securing access to them; fluency with primary literature and patent search with strong judgment on data quality; proficiency in Python and/or R; and strong written communication skills (this role is externally facing). Nice-to-have skills include experience negotiating data partnerships or licensing agreements and building datasets for model training or evaluation. Compensation: $180k+ base salary, increasing with technical depth and experience, plus variable compensation, equity, and stock options. Benefits include 100% premium coverage for Blue Shield platinum health plan ($0 deductible/$0 out-of-pocket), free meals (lunch and dinner), and a waterfront office in China Basin, San Francisco. Full-time, in-person position.
