Mercor, a $10B Series C AI data company, is seeking a Member of Technical Staff to join the Deeptune team (acquired July 2026). Deeptune builds high-fidelity training environments where AI agents learn to complete real work through reinforcement learning, supporting computer use, code generation, and multi-step task completion.
In this applied engineering role, you will own production software end-to-end: from initial specification through implementation, testing, and delivery. You'll build realistic environments that reproduce professional software workflows, create tool APIs and MCP servers, design containerized computer-use systems, and connect environments to AI agents. You'll also design realistic training data with schemas, anonymization pipelines, and fast search/loading systems, calibrate task difficulty through rollout analysis, and improve shared engineering infrastructure through automation and deployment tooling.
You should have strong Python skills spanning backend, frontend, data, and infrastructure work. The ideal candidate has experience owning technically substantial projects from early stage through production, communicates complex systems clearly, understands technical depth and system interactions, and makes sound architectural decisions under changing requirements and tight deadlines. You'll work remotely from India with time overlap to the New York headquarters, owning outcomes and unblocking yourself. The team values practical depth, working software, and honest technical reasoning over impressive terminology.
This is a high-impact role at the intersection of AI infrastructure and applied systems engineering, working with frontier AI labs to build the environments that train next-generation models.
