Salary: USD 256,000 - 276,000 / annual
Postman, the world's leading API platform used by 45M+ developers and 500K organizations (98% of Fortune 500), is seeking a Member of Technical Staff to lead AI agent development. You will drive the design, architecture, and deployment of next-generation AI agents that interact with users and complex environments, working across research, product, and engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include leading a cross-functional engineering team from conceptual design through production deployment; designing and implementing AI agent architectures leveraging state-of-the-art language models; collaborating with research scientists to scale experiments and productize innovations; driving development of agent capabilities including dialogue management, decision-making, and autonomy; ensuring AI safety and alignment principles are integrated throughout the agent lifecycle; mentoring and growing technical staff; evaluating new tools and frameworks; and partnering with product and policy teams to align features with user needs and ethical standards.
You bring proven experience leading technical teams in AI/ML engineering, preferably building AI agents or assistants. Strong software engineering skills in Python with familiarity in modern ML frameworks (JAX, PyTorch, TensorFlow) are essential. You have deep understanding of language models, reinforcement learning, and AI safety/alignment concepts, plus experience with scalable system design and cloud infrastructure. Passion for AI safety, interpretability, and user-centered AI development, combined with excellent cross-disciplinary collaboration skills, rounds out the profile.
Preferred qualifications include prior work with large language models or conversational AI, background in AI alignment or safety research, and experience with developer tools and APIs for AI integration.
