Arena is a platform for evaluating how AI models perform in real-world scenarios. Founded by researchers from UC Berkeley's SkyLab, the company helps tens of millions of users monthly evaluate frontier AI systems. Arena works with leading AI labs, enterprises, and independent researchers to provide transparent, rigorous, human-centered evaluations of AI behavior across agentic coding, creative generation, professional productivity, and other domains.
You will own the end-to-end design of new products and features at the bleeding edge of AI innovation. This is a 0-1 product design role where you'll partner closely with engineering, product, and research teams to explore, prototype, iterate, test, and ship features on the Arena platform. You'll be responsible for the complete design lifecycle: from prototyping and writing design specs, to collaborating with engineering on scope and implementation, to tracking feedback and iterating post-launch.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead end-to-end design of new features and products, from ideation through post-launch iteration
- Develop deep understanding of Arena's high-expectation customers, their needs, and how they use the product
- Align design decisions with business goals and user needs, with a strong point of view on improving experience and driving growth
- Monitor user feedback and analytics to spot trends, prioritize work, and inform product improvements
- Develop and expand the design system to ensure consistency and quality across all product surfaces
- Influence design team culture, processes, and product vision
This role is ideal for someone comfortable with ambiguity, with a proven track record of simplifying complexity and shipping 0-1 products.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years of product design experience on consumer or developer-facing applications
- Portfolio demonstrating: (1) very high-level visual design craft with attention to detail; (2) history of shipping consumer-facing features, ideally 0-1 products or early-stage startup experience; (3) track record of making informed design decisions with measurable product impact
- Ability to make appropriate tradeoffs between short-term and long-term goals informed by business and user needs
- Strong interaction, visual, and design system skills: expert-level Figma proficiency and fluency with prototyping tools
- Prototype-first mindset; you build and test prototypes to inform design decisions
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to simplify complex ideas
- Strong writing skills; comfortable writing or editing PRDs with excellent visual, verbal, and written storytelling abilities
