Re:Build Manufacturing, part of a national industrial platform, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the machine design team at their Rochester, NY facility. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with team management in a dynamic manufacturing environment focused on custom-engineered process equipment and automated systems.
You will serve as day-to-day manager of the mechanical machine design team, overseeing 70+ engineers, designers, and programmers across 150,000 square feet of fabrication space. Your responsibilities span three core areas:
Team Leadership & Development: Provide day-to-day oversight of the mechanical design team, manage workload allocation and resource utilization, drive talent management and professional development, and lead recruiting and onboarding efforts.
Technical Excellence: Plan, develop, and direct complex engineering projects from concept through completion. Apply advanced theories to solve technical challenges, create and maintain design standards and engineering calculations, and participate in client meetings and design reviews. You'll maintain deep hands-on expertise in machine design and industrial automation.
Project & Client Management: Prepare multi-disciplined project proposals and cost estimates, develop detailed project plans using project management tools, engage in business development with existing and potential clients, and maintain strong client relationships to support sales efforts.
