Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Material Planner III to drive material availability and supply chain execution for cutting-edge defense hardware including static sensor platforms, mobile ground equipment, and flight vehicles.
In this role, you will own end-to-end material flow across the value chain, from raw components through finished goods. You will serve as the critical link between engineering demand and execution, directing Purchasing and Manufacturing on what to build/buy, quantities, and timing. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment where engineering designs evolve rapidly, bringing bias toward action, accountability, and problem-solving grit to ensure production lines never miss a beat.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, maintain, and execute dynamic production plans that translate engineering demand into executable build schedules, coordinating closely with Strategic Sourcing and Purchasing to guarantee component availability.
- Maintain real-time shortage visibility across active programs through Clear-to-Build (CTB) management, generating actionable reports to proactively flag risks and prevent line-down situations.
- Partner directly with Hardware Engineering to assess inventory exposure during Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECN), manage revision cut-ins, and minimize scrap during rapid design iterations.
- Provide forward-looking demand signals to Strategic Sourcing and Procurement for long-lead and custom mechanical and electrical components.
- Take direct ownership of MRP parameters within Oracle (lead times, safety stocks, reorder points, scrap factors, Bills of Materials) to ensure system recommendations reflect operational reality.
- Design and manage replenishment strategies (Kanban, Min/Max) for production consumables, fasteners, and floor stock to ensure uninterrupted assembly.
- Collaborate daily across Production, Quality, Logistics, and Sourcing to reallocate materials, resolve Non-Conforming Material (MRB) holdups, and expedite critical parts.
- Champion process improvement by identifying inefficiencies and manual workarounds across planning, warehousing, and inventory systems. Take initiative to design scalable solutions and lead cross-functional teams from concept to execution.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of material planning, production control, or supply chain experience in high-mix or fast-paced manufacturing environments (aerospace, defense, automotive, robotics, or complex electronics).
- Demonstrated ownership and initiative with a proven track record of identifying broken or inefficient operational processes and autonomously leading corrective, scalable solutions.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex Bills of Materials involving electro-mechanical assemblies, wire harnesses, or precision-machined structures.
- Hands-on experience operating within ERP/MRP systems (Oracle strongly preferred; SAP, Netsuite, or similar accepted).
- Strong data manipulation skills in Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, index/match) to build models and shortage trackers from scratch.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 15–20%.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
- Ability to work full-time onsite in Irvine, CA (or relocate prior to starting).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Experience in NPI (New Product Introduction) environments where engineering changes occur frequently and rapidly.
- Experience leading Kaizen events, value-stream mapping, and/or cross-functional operational improvement projects that delivered measurable results in inventory accuracy, cycle time reduction, or shortage prevention.
- Self-starter mindset with proven track record of resolving complex operational bottlenecks with minimal supervision and high agency.
