OpenAI's Marketing Insights & Analytics team is seeking a Market Research Lead to drive strategic research initiatives that inform product, marketing, and business decisions. This role bridges market research and marketing execution, translating complex insights into actionable strategies that support OpenAI's mission to ensure responsible AI adoption at scale. You will own the full research lifecycle—from translating business questions into research designs, executing both quantitative and qualitative studies, to synthesizing findings into compelling narratives for executives and stakeholders. You'll partner strategically with Brand, Product Marketing, Creative, Product, and other teams to address critical business challenges: reaching the next billion users, evolving brand positioning, scaling internationally, optimizing product portfolio messaging, and improving customer experience. Key responsibilities include designing and executing high-impact research studies (surveys, focus groups, ethnographic work); managing external research agencies and vendors; leveraging multiple data sources to influence leadership; conducting product and GTM strategy research (positioning, messaging, competitive analysis); executing brand and campaign tracking studies; and leading global research initiatives. You'll also bring expertise in social listening, creator marketing measurement, and partnership analytics. Required qualifications: 12+ years in data analysis, user research, or market research; proven ability to independently execute full-cycle research from design through reporting; deep expertise in quantitative methods (survey design, weighting, data cleaning, regression) and qualitative approaches (discussion guides, analysis); proficiency with analytics and survey tools; experience managing research vendors; track record influencing executives with data-driven insights; background in product/GTM strategy research, brand research, and campaign development; experience conducting global studies; and familiarity with social listening and creator marketing measurement. This is a strategic, high-visibility role at a leading AI company where your research directly shapes how millions of users engage with transformative technology.
