FlixTrain is seeking a Manager of Short-Term Planning to oversee intra-year planning of train operations, with particular focus on efficient crew scheduling for train personnel including locomotive drivers, train conductors, and train assistants across regular and special timetables.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ownership of short-term planning for FlixTrain's service offerings, particularly crew scheduling for regular and special timetables
- Specialization in processing short-notice special services and operational changes (e.g., locomotive/car transfers, special runs)
- Development of regular and special timetables in compliance with operational requirements and legal regulations to ensure stable operations and employee satisfaction
- Creation of economically viable solutions during construction work and operational constraints, developing both short- and long-term timetable concepts
- Coordination with internal and external partners on track allocation, service facilities, workshop capacity, and operational resources
- Analysis of ongoing operations to identify optimization opportunities and contribute to continuous process improvement
Required qualifications:
- Initial experience in operations, crew, or traffic planning in rail transport
- Training or degree in transportation, logistics, or related field
- Strong technical and economic understanding to grasp complex relationships and develop pragmatic solutions
- Structured work approach, sense of responsibility, and pronounced hands-on mentality
- Familiarity with planning software (TPN, FBS, IVU, WILSON, or comparable systems), or willingness to quickly learn
- C1-level German language proficiency and proficient MS Office skills; additional languages a plus
