Extend is a post-purchase commerce platform serving 1,000+ merchants with AI-driven solutions for customer service, returns management, fulfillment, and fraud detection. You'll join the centralized Risk, Analytics & Data Science team as Manager, Risk Analytics—the senior technical leader and people manager building out the entire risk function.
You'll own full scope of Extend's risk operations: pricing methodology, risk framework for portfolio decisions, and technical standards for the function. This is a hybrid IC/manager role where you'll set the pricing frameworks that defend new-category premiums, especially with thin data. You'll be the C-suite's counterpart on portfolio health, recommending which programs to reprice, renegotiate, or exit based on loss ratio analysis and broader business trade-offs.
Key responsibilities include architecting the data foundation for Risk Analytics on top of dbt and Snowflake—designing data models, standards, and the multi-year roadmap. You'll transform monitoring into a decision engine: designing systems to identify which claims initiatives, premium adjustments, and program renegotiations to pursue, then driving adoption. You'll mentor Lead and senior data scientists, raise the team's technical bar, and champion AI-native ways of working.
You bring 8+ years in actuarial pricing, predictive modeling, or risk analytics with a track record owning methodology or strategy. Strong technical skills: SQL, Python/R, pipeline development, dbt/Snowflake, and visualization tools (Tableau/Streamlit). Demonstrated mentoring experience raising teams' technical standards. Ability to dive deep into data and communicate to C-suite and non-technical audiences. Actuarial credentials (ACAS or equivalent) preferred. Bachelor's in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field required. You're excited about new AI tools (Claude, Gemini) and eager to improve day-to-day efficiency. Empathy, humility, and curiosity essential.
