GitLab is seeking a Manager, Renewals to lead a team of early-career to mid-level Renewals Managers and Associates. This is a first-line people-management role focused on day-to-day execution, coaching, and tactical implementation rather than long-range strategic decision-making.
You will manage the day-to-day work of individual-contributor renewals professionals, implement functional renewals plans into tactical processes, and maintain accurate visibility into team performance in Salesforce and other CRM systems. You'll deliver precise forecasting for renewal segments alongside Field Sales Leadership and Geo Directors, incorporating projections for churn and growth opportunities. You'll partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Finance to keep renewals and expansion opportunities moving, escalating unusual or high-risk situations appropriately.
Key responsibilities include solving renewal and team problems of moderate complexity by following GitLab's processes and policies, demonstrating and coaching business acumen (pricing, contract terms, whitespace, expansion motion) to team members, and making routine operational decisions covering day-to-day renewals operations. You'll provide prioritization guidance to help team members balance urgent versus important work, maintain and reinforce clear renewal strategy aligned with Division and Company-wide priorities, and establish goals, set performance expectations, drive accountability, and monitor progress.
You'll enable team capacity and efficiency by removing blockers and streamlining workflows, clearly communicate team objectives and how they reflect broader strategy, proactively identify and fill talent gaps, care personally for team members, and provide candid, real-time feedback and coaching. You'll recognize and address engagement and retention needs, foster open feedback and dialogue, advise direct reports on career growth with focus on task-level skills, and coach team members on skills and behaviors aligned with GitLab's Operating Principles and high-performance culture.
The role operates in a fully remote, asynchronous environment using tools like Salesforce, Gainsight, and Gong. You'll regularly demonstrate and model GitLab's remote working best practices, including excellent remote presentation skills. Travel for events such as trainings, team offsites, and customer meetings is expected.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior experience as a renewals, customer success, or sales professional with exposure to renewal motions
- Experience managing or mentoring early-career to mid-level individual contributors, or clear readiness to step into first-line people management
- Strong understanding of GitLab's or comparable SaaS company's renewals processes, pricing, and contract fundamentals, with developing business acumen to coach others
- Ability to translate functional plans and strategy into clear, tactical day-to-day team processes
- Sound judgment on routine operational decisions with discipline to escalate cleanly when issues exceed team scope
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to help others balance urgent versus important work
- Demonstrated people-leadership instincts: goal-setting, accountability, feedback, coaching, and fostering trust and engagement
- Genuine care for team members' growth paired with candid, real-time feedback delivered productively
- Alignment with GitLab's Values and Operating Principles and ability to coach others toward high-performance culture
- Excellent written, verbal, and remote presentation communication skills with bias toward action
- Comfort operating in fully remote, asynchronous work environment
- Ability to travel for events such as trainings, team offsites, and customer meetings
