Wealthsimple, Canada's leading financial innovator serving 4+ million Canadians with $155B+ in assets under administration, is seeking a Manager of Quantitative Market Risk to lead the Credit Risk team within Operations. This role owns the development, maintenance, and methodology of quantitative risk models that drive consequential decisions across the brokerage business. You will own the full lifecycle of quantitative risk models including VaR, SVaR, broad-based stress testing, and single-stock stress testing in a CIRO-regulated environment. Key responsibilities include developing production-quality code across multiple programming languages, maintaining clear methodology documentation for stakeholder consumption, applying deep knowledge of CIRO 5000 margin rules to model capital impact under stressed conditions, and working cross-functionally with margin, delinquency, and dynamic risk reporting teams. You'll proactively identify and flag model performance issues, ensuring outputs remain accurate and meaningful as market conditions and regulatory requirements evolve. The role requires translating complex quantitative outputs into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical stakeholders. Required qualifications: 7–10 years in quantitative risk or analytics within financial services (preferably CIRO-regulated brokerage); hands-on model development experience across stress testing methodologies; deep knowledge of markets, trading instruments, and valuation across equities, options, futures, and fixed income; expert-level proficiency in Python, R, or similar; strong written communication; ability to work independently on complex technical problems and lead a small team. Nice-to-have: Master's in a quantitative field, CFA/FRM/equivalent, DFOL certification, model governance framework experience, experience presenting to senior stakeholders or regulators, exposure to margin lending or credit risk in brokerage context. Wealthsimple offers top-tier health benefits, employer-matched group savings, 20 vacation days plus 4 wellness days and unlimited sick/mental health days, and the ability to work outside Canada up to 90 days per year.
