Pie Insurance is seeking a Manager, Premium Audit to lead and optimize the premium audit operations function. This role manages team leads and individual contributors responsible for workers' compensation premium audits, ensuring consistent quality, productivity, and compliance with state and bureau requirements across all audit types (mail-in, phone, virtual, physical).
You will own the design and continuous optimization of audit workflows, analytics infrastructure, and workforce management practices. Key responsibilities include translating business strategy into functional audit plans, overseeing both internal audit processes and vendor relationships, monitoring completion rates and quality metrics, and ensuring SLA compliance. You'll partner with the Analytics team to identify trends impacting profitability and work cross-functionally with Underwriting, Claims, Business Development, Customer Service, Billing, and Compliance teams.
Process improvement is central to the role. You'll develop and execute operational initiatives to improve audit efficiency and customer experience, collaborate with Product and Engineering on automation opportunities, build audit procedures and best practices documentation, and identify cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
Leadership is hands-on: you'll provide regular one-on-ones, performance coaching, and development plans for direct reports. You'll conduct team calibrations and quality reviews, support recruitment and onboarding as the function scales, and foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture. You'll also handle complex audit disputes and escalations, making decisions on adjustments and settlements within authority limits, and coordinating with Legal when necessary.
Required: 5+ years of Workers' Compensation Premium Audit experience, 6+ years of commercial insurance experience, and 3+ years of management or supervisory experience. Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience managing both internal teams and external vendor relationships is a plus.
