FlixTrain is seeking a Manager of Operational Planning to lead the intra-year planning of FlixTrain's rail service offerings. You will own the planning of efficient duty rosters for train personnel (locomotive drivers, train conductors, and train assistants) for regular and special schedules. Working within a team, you will specialize in processing short-notice special services and operational changes, such as locomotive and car transfers, special trips, and ad-hoc adjustments.
Key responsibilities include developing regular and special schedules while adhering to operational requirements and legal regulations to ensure stable operations and employee satisfaction. You will identify economically viable solutions during construction work and operational constraints, developing both short- and long-term schedule concepts. You will coordinate closely with internal and external partners to manage track allocations, service facilities, workshop capacities, and operational resources.
Through analysis of ongoing operations, you will identify optimization opportunities and contribute insights to continuous process improvement. The role requires someone with foundational experience in operations, duty, or traffic planning in rail transport, ideally with training or a degree in transportation, logistics, or a related field. You should have strong technical and economic understanding, structured work habits, responsibility awareness, and a pronounced hands-on mentality.
Familiarity with planning software such as TPN, FBS, IVU, WILSON, or comparable systems is valued, though willingness to quickly learn is acceptable. Excellent German language skills (C1 level) and proficiency with MS Office are required; additional languages are a plus. FlixTrain offers a dynamic, international environment where your ideas have real impact, secure employment, and attractive benefits including travel perks and flexible work arrangements.
