Airwallex is a unified payments and financial platform serving over 250,000 global businesses. The Regulatory & Compliance team ensures the company grows responsibly as a global financial platform, working at the intersection of law, regulation, risk, and business execution.
As Manager, Obligations Management, you will build and operate the framework that translates complex regulatory and partner obligations into real, tested, and well-evidenced controls across Airwallex's US-licensed entities and products. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role where you will not just interpret rules but help design, implement, and continuously improve controls, documentation, and reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identify, interpret, and operationalize regulatory and partner obligations across US jurisdictions, products, and licensed entities, translating them into clear governance, controls, and execution requirements
- Manage end-to-end design and implementation of key regulatory and partner controls, partnering with Product, Operations, Engineering, Risk, and Regulatory Compliance teams
- Build and maintain regulator- and partner-ready documentation including obligation mappings, control descriptions, RACIs, testing approaches, evidence standards, and remediation tracking
- Engage with third parties such as regulators, auditors, and financial partners, confidently explaining obligations, control architecture, and how controls operate in practice
- Support regulatory exams, audits, inspections, RFIs, and supervisory engagements by coordinating responses, curating evidence packages, and maintaining exam-ready documentation
- Contribute to the design and operation of US regulatory reporting and obligations governance
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or duplication in obligations, controls, and evidence, driving pragmatic remediation plans
- Help establish consistent obligations-management practices that scale with Airwallex's US business
You bring 7+ years of experience in regulatory operations, compliance, internal audit, or risk management within fast-growing tech or fintech companies. You have proven experience translating legal and regulatory requirements into operational controls and testing activities. You have direct involvement supporting regulatory exams, audits, and partner due diligence reviews with clear ownership for planning, coordination, and remediation. Strong project management skills and ability to drive cross-functional initiatives are essential.
